The announcement of colistiere as John McCain
It is colistiere chosen as the Republican candidate for the presidency of the United States, John McCain, 29 August 2008.

For many analysts, this choice is dictated primarily by the desire of the Republican camp to recover voters favoring Democrats Hillary Clinton. In his first speech as a candidate for the vice presidency in Dayton, Ohio, she also welcome Hillary Clinton's campaign. Others note that John McCain out of trend pro-business Republican Party who wanted to impose Mitt Romney to select a woman from a modest family, married to a trade unionist, in terms of conservative values, but supported more social justice, which increased taxes on the oil industry in Alaska.

The bet is that John McCain by choosing a conservative woman, although virtually unknown nationally, as colistiere focus for the right of the party, seems to succeed because it collects $ 7 million in two days.

Democrats and media critics
Some Democrats quickly attacked the choice of Sarah Palin. Thus, Robert Wexler, a representative from Florida, a member of the left wing of the Democratic Party and supporter of Barack Obama, known for supporting impeachment proceedings against George W. Bush accuses Sarah Palin to have supported during the 2000 presidential election, the candidacy of Pat Buchanan, former political adviser of Presidents Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford and Ronald Reagan, now political commentator on MSNBC channel, which he would be "a declared anti-Semitic" and an opponent of the existence of the State of Israel, seeing an "insult to all Jews of America." This accusation was quickly denied by the team of McCain who said that Sarah Palin was a member of the campaign team of Republican Steve Forbes in 2000. Sarah Palin itself acknowledges receipt Buchanan to Wasilla in 1999, but no public or financial support from him is shown even if Buchanan acknowledged his side have also met in 1996, Sarah Palin and her husband.

To dispel any rumors circulating on the Internet, fueled in particular by a Friend of the blog DailyKos left, that his son, 4 months, Trig, is basically that of his eldest daughter Bristol, 17 years the campaign team of John McCain, refuting these claims, announced that Bristol Palin is five months pregnant and will marry the father of the unborn.

The announcement of the pregnancy, revealed at the beginning of the Republican National Convention, far from dividing, appears finally weld them Republicans, including conservatives and evangelical Christians, in defense of family values, the latter to neutral passage to note that the colistiere of John McCain put into practice the anti-abortion publicly defended it.

The announcement of pregnancy is followed by another revelation of the press that Sarah Palin is suspected of abuse of authority for conducting a termination for personal reasons and not professional, the Commissioner of Public Safety in Alaska. The actual cause of unacknowledged and the dismissal was that he had refused to dismiss Mike Wooten, a member of the State Police and brother of the Governor, involved in divorce proceedings with the sister of Sarah Palin. Wooten had used a particularly pulsed electric gun on the son and his wife had been, the subject of disciplinary reprimands several times. If Sarah Palin Block denies the charge of abuse of power, an internal investigation is conducted by the legislative committee of the senate of Alaska. In an article in the Anchorage Daily News, the former Commissioner of Public Safety, dismissed in July 2008 after refusing a change of assignment, says he never received a direct order to dismiss the ex-beau brother Sarah Palin, but says that the fact that Wooten still working in the State police (state troopers) had been repeatedly mentioned by the governor, members of his team and by her husband. On 10 October, the report by Stephen Branchflower mandated by the Alaska Senate to investigate the matter, concluded that Sarah Palin has violated the ethical rules of the State of Alaska.

The media then reported that Sarah Palin would have been a member for at least two years in the early 1990s, the Independence Party of Alaska (AIP), affiliated to the Conservative Party nationally constitutionalist, and whose agenda includes the secession of Alaska in the USA. But ultimately it is only her husband would have actually been a member of the party, Sarah Palin have joined the Republican Party in 1982 without ever join the AIP or other parties whatsoever.

It is also vilified for allegedly made to ban Harry Potter library of his city of Wasilla at a time when the author, Joanne Kathleen Rowling, had anything published. It was also alleged to have stated that the war in Iraq was a "mission from God" while the words given in context prove it targeted to young parishioners which it asked to pray that the leaders countries send troops to Iraq, including his own son, as for work which, she hopes, are intended by God.

Shortly before his speech at the Republican National Convention held in St. Paul (Minnesota) a group of Republican women, led by the former president of Hewlett-Packard, Carly Fiorina, responding during a press conference to describe rough of "sexist" the criticism against Sarah Palin and his inexperience supposed to have directed that a town of less than 10 000 inhabitants and one of the least populous states in the country. They also promised that the media does not address the Republican candidate for the vice-presidency as they had dealt with Hillary Clinton during his confrontation with Barack Obama in the Democratic primary.

On 29 September 2008, the daily Los Angeles Times California relays the words of Philip Munger, a former music teacher of a school in Wasilla, a Democrat opposed to Palin and bloggueur Progressive, which says that Sarah Palin him in 1997 that she believed that dinosaurs and men had lived together on Earth, there are six thousand years.

Republican National Convention
During a 40-minute speech at the Republican National Convention, where it receives strong support from many of his peers as Linda Lingle, Sarah Palin is elected as a victim and denigrated local media elite of the country. In their address, she said she does not "in Washington to get their approval" but that it is "to serve the people of this country." It also sets out its vision of politics and accuses Barack Obama of being "a celebrity" who "of his life never had to take decisions or to lead", which "has written two autobiographies But no law "and" may issue a full speeches on the wars waged by America and does not use the word victory ... except when he talks about his campaign. " It qualifies as the "candidate of change used to promote his career" as she says, John McCain "uses his career to promote change." Claiming his experience as mayor of a small town, she contends that the Democratic candidate does for his experience as a "community organizer in Chicago" and has never been, like her, a position responsibility, considering that in a world of threats and dangers, "it does not need a single organization. At the end of his speech marked by an offensive revival of the "war of cultures" with Democrats and some humorous remarks - "The difference between a hockey mom and a pitbull? - The lipstick! "- She is joined on stage by all his family and John McCain is making a traditional appearance surprise.

The speech expected by Sarah Palin and his performance before 20 000 activists of the Xcel Energy Center received accolades from the American press, the Wall Street Journal comparing Sarah Palin to Margaret Thatcher, former British prime minister. The New York Times recognizes its performance and the conservative Washington Post described the speech successful political event that led to Sarah Palin to move from laughingstock status to that of national star.
