Johnny Depp, whose real name is John Christopher Depp II, born 9 June 1963 in Owensboro, Kentucky, is an actor, director, screenwriter and producer in the USA. Better known for the interpretation of original and eccentric characters as Edward in Edward Scissorhands and Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy, he has been nominated for the Oscar for best actor.

It is often under the guidance of director Tim Burton, who is his best friend, with whom he shot several feature films such as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The Bride, Ed Wood, Sleepy Hollow and Sweeney Todd: The diabolical barber of Fleet Street, often hailed by critics and the public. Now, his name is attached to the success of American independent films. He also played in Chocolate with Juliette Binoche.

Biography
Johnny Depp was born on 9 June 1963 in Owensboro, Kentucky, Betty Sue, a waitress, and John Christopher Depp Sr., an engineer. It also has a brother, Danny, and two sisters (Christie, who is also her personal manager, and Debbie), and comes from a German family, Cherokee and Irish descent. In the book Johnny Depp: A Kind of Illusion (ISBN 1-905287-04-6), the author Denis Meikle said that the Depp family is linked to french Huguenot Pierre Deppe, or Dieppe, who settled in Virginia to 1700s. Yet, the actor said he does not know the origin of its name, but states that it means "idiot" in German (it is actually a minor insult meaning "stupid" or "hungry").

When he takes a liking to the music by attending a performance of gospel music that his uncle, a pastor, presented in a church, then he joined the band The Flame, which becomes The Kids and the first part of the tour Iggy Pop. Two years later, having left school at age 15, he traveled with his band in Los Angeles, but the group is not taking off and the members must work in addition to their artistic activity. During this time, Depp was briefly married to makeup artist Lori Allison pens and sells by mail order. His wife then presents Nicolas Cage, who arranges a meeting with his agent, his first leading film role in Les Griffes de la nuit by Wes Craven.

Johnny Depp decide to register with the Loft Studio in Los Angeles. After leaving school, he gets a few roles or background figuration that allow it to live properly. Then in 1987 he landed the lead role in 21 Jump Street series whose success hoisted on a pedestal fragile. After four seasons to interpret Tom Hanson, he wants to break with its image of "an idol for teenage girls" portrayed on television, and succeeds, with the help of his agent, to break the contract (for which he was required to play in five seasons of the series) to turn to her filmmaking career reaching out.


It begins in the satirical Cry-Baby John Waters who launches the career of the brilliant young actor. Tim Burton in 1990 offered him the role of consecration which enables it, at the same time, to break with its image as a young first: Edward Scissorhands in 1991. Therefore, it becomes the agent of choice for Burton, with whom he also toured in 1994, Ed Wood, Sleepy Hollow in 1999, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The Bride, animated film in 2005 and Sweeney Todd: The devil Barber of Fleet Street in 2007. Other collaborations followed less noticed that tend to give the image an actor fleeing big productions. He turns and with Jim Jarmusch in Dead Man in 1995, Terry Gilliam in Las Vegas Parano chaotic and The Man Who Killed Don Quixote, which give rise to the documentary Lost in La Mancha (directed by Keith Fulton). In 1993, Emir Kusturica offered him a role commensurate with his talent in Arizona Dream.

In 1997, he tried to achieve with The Brave, with Marlon Brando, who did not obtain the desired success in spite of its presentation at the Cannes Festival.

Because of the importance of his films (more than 45 films to date), he received in 1999 an honorary Cesar for his life's work.

The role of Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy is to discover another side of the public. The first part (The Curse of the Black Pearl) was released in 2003. He finds his status as bankable actor and triggering riots that had to flee the shooting of 21 Jump Street. The films in which he made after that date are nearly all box-office success, apart from in 2004, Rochester, the last of the wicked (The Libertine). The film is about, in fact, a famous poet who lived in the seventeenth century, notorious and profligate free-thinker, in the reign of King Charles II of England. The other two components of his escapade into the world of piracy (The secret: Dead Man's Chest in 2006 and At World's End in 2007), will confirm the success of the first episode. Success more than beneficial to the core of the film crew, including Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley (actor), Gore Verbinski (director), Jerry Bruckheimer (producer) and, of course, the Disney company.

Broadly speaking, its unusual characters have in common a certain audacity, originality and are in step with the common people.

He made an appearance in the movie french They married and had many children from Yvan Attal.

Vanessa Paradis companion since 1998, they have two children, Lily-Rose Melody (born 27 May 1999) and Jack John Christopher III (born April 9 2002). He bought a house in Hollywood whose legend would be it would have lived where Bela Lugosi, Dracula interpreter. Then, due to its repeated shooting in the Caribbean, he will fall in love with an island he had the means to offer his family vacation place.

In 2006, he has appeared in the clip posthumous Johnny Cash God's Gonna Cut You Down, and some two dozen other artists. It appears at the end of the video, playing the guitar.

It should be noted that in 2009, to please his children, he doubled an episode of Sponge Bob in which he plays a character nicknamed "The King of Surf" in the episode "The perfect wave" (6x21).
